McGregor Dunn Law LLC represents police officers facing ILETSB complaints, investigations, or decertification.
The Illinois Police Training Act governs the decertification of Police Officers. Police Officers can be decertified automatically or through the discretionary process. Currently, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) is finalizing rules regarding the discretionary decertification of Police Officers. Automatic decertification occurs if an officer is convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors.
This is a very hectic time for police officers in Illinois and decertification is a new process for ILETSB required by the SAFE-T Act. As a result, there are more questions than answers. See the latest updates on the ILETSB website. If you think you could be decertified, contact us today.
